FOR SALE || 1940's Striped Green Dress

*****SOLD*****

This was a test dress. I wanted to try out a new pattern, so it was kind of acting like a mock-up. It ended up being too big, and I didn't have the desire to rip it apart and take it in even though I really liked it.

I typically wear a size 8 dress, and this one is about 2 sizes too big. It's made from this pattern, made almost to a T. The fabric is rayon. It zips up on the side. It's never been worn, and is in excellent condition.

I'm asking $30 for it, plus shipping. Comment with your email address, and I'll be in contact with you as promptly as I can. I will not publish your comment, so your information will remain confidential.

(for the photos, I adjusted it on my body, to make it look like it fit, fyi)

Does not include belt. Or shoes. Or pearls. Or me. ;)
Comment if you are interested!! And there are still hats for sale!!

  1. Can I just say I think it's hilarious that you say it's never been worn and then post pictures of you wearing it? ;-)

    1. Haha... Never been worn in public? Never been worn for an event? Only been worn for taking these photos? :P

  2. Nope. I won't buy it unless it includes you. I could use a sister...especially a piano-playing, dress-sewing, amazing one. ;)
When you say size 8, do you mean a modern size 8 or a pattern size 8?

    1. Hi Esther,

      Hahahaha!! :) Thanks! :)

I meant a modern size 8. I can get you actual dress measurements, if you wish!

    2. So you'll change your mind and come too? ;)
The actual dress measurements would be great! (Including length and back-waist length, if you could?)
      Thanks, Tara!!

    3. Hmmmm... maybe... ;)

      Ok, here you go:
Waist to edge of skirt - 26" (with a couple inch hem, if you need to let it down!)
Nape of neck to waist: 18"
      Waist: 35"
Shoulder to shoulder - 23" (though they are supposed to be over the shoulder, cap sleeve things)

The bust is pretty full, with tons of gathers, so I'm not quite sure that I can measure that successfully!

It's supposed to be a little loose fitting, according to what the pattern says.

      Hope it works for you!!

    4. Oh, rats!! It's still about 2 inches too short, even with letting the hem down. Too bad!!
Thanks for all the info anyway, Tara!!

  3. This is beautiful! It won't fit me (sadly), but the fabric and bodice and... everything are amazing!

  4. So, the deal is on if you come with it, off if you don't. And yes, seriously, (now that Kathryn points it out) never been worn - way too cute!:) Love you girl!

  6. I've passed over this pattern many times, but now that I see how you made it with this fabric, I like it a lot! I bought the pattern today to sew one of my own!

  9. Hmm, I keep coming back to this post. Maybe it's a sign? After all, it sounds like it would fit me, although gathers at the waist isn't exactly flattering on my body type. :)

    1. I think it's a sign. :) Usually I'm not a fan of gathers at my waistline either, but since this fabric is thin and drape-y it seems to work nicer. :)
