I am thankful for...

Life and living it to the fullest. The Lord who died for me that I might have eternal life. Home that is really a home, not just a house. Family, I couldn't ask for a better one. Fall and all the colors of the leaves, the cool fresh air. Friends who make me smile, think, and encourage me.

I'm thankful for...

A voice. I can't imagine life without singing. Socks. Because my toes are cold. Letters from friends - they make my day. Cheese because it tastes good. Patterns that make sewing much easier. Books. Especially on a cold day. Popcorn while watching a movie with family. Coffeeeeeeee with whipped cream. Or without. Just has to have cream and sugar. Music. It makes me happy. Fingers to tickle the piano. My bed. Being away for a week really makes one thankful for their own bed. Our yard. It's beautiful. Chocolate. Need I say more? Hugs. One size fits all and they are easily exchanged. Events that are coming up. Rag curlers since my hair is stick straight. My church family. You all encourage me! Health. Dear Nose, I'm grateful you aren't sneezing like yesterday. Love, Tara. My sewing machine, which makes my life so much easier. My sister. She's pretty amazing.

I'm thankful for...

An afternoon of hair curling, hats, and mousse-filled chocolate cups with Laura. Spontaneous 5-hour movie nights with Wendy. An evening trying to blow up mattresses with Hannah and Esther. Hotel nights with Lauren. Long email conversations with Robyn. Skype chats with Emily. Sprinkling snow on each other with Kristen. Sewing with Lily and Gretel. Kitchen clean-up late night goofiness with Grace. Swim poses at the L's house with Sokea. Sunday conversations over lunch with Dawn (I miss you!)

What are you thankful for today?

  1. I am thankful for you. For being remarkably giving, eternally cheerful, and a jolly good friend.

I am thankful for Messiah tickets. Because we might not have gotten any, because music is lovely and music with Scripture is doubly lovely, and because I'll get to go with splendid friends.

I am thankful for mint. Without the flavor, my teeth would never feel clean!!

I am thankful the sun. It's sending golden streaks across the green field and casting romantic shadows beyond the trees. Sunshine makes me happy.

I am thankful for kleenexes. And other forms of paper. No joke! Life would be a lot more bothersome without them...

I am thankful for late nights, and parents who let me have them. All the best conversations, best laughs, best bonding moments, best memories happen late at night. Everything's dark and still, my mind is focused, the haze of the daily existence is cleared, and my consciousness is closer to the surface of what's real in this life. I know the time will come when I'll rejoice forever in the Day that Doesn't End, but until then, I shall delight in the the nighttime He created.

I am thankful for the internet. Just think how many people we wouldn't know so well without it!!

I am thankful for sleep. It's not over-rated.

I am thankful for Jesus. Conqueror of this world, the only reason for living, and my Rest forever.

  2. I'm thankful for my savior, for my family, (yep, my parents and siblings are pretty amazing!) for our amazing home, for my wonderful friends, for photography, for writing, for chocolate, for sleep, for music, for my computer and of course, my ipod. And, that's just the abbreviated list....

AND, I'm SO thankful for you! For always being there, for talking in our LONGGGGG e-mail conversations, and for being the most amazing friend ever who has stuck with me through um.... I think 7 years!!! :D

Loved your post! You made me smile today!!! Can't wait to see you!!!! :D :D :D

  3. Laurelyn - I loved your list! Thanks for sharing! I am thankful for Messiah tickets too! And I look forward to singing there with YOU! :)

    Mom - I love you more! :)

RJ - Yes, my list could have been soooo much longer! There are endless things to be thankful for, aren't there?!?
Awww! Thank you for the sweet word! I'm thankful for YOU TOO!!!
See you soon.... almost exactly...24 hours!!!!!

  4. I am thankful for the Lord Jesus Christ, my family, friends, and church.

I am thankful for sunshine, vibrant colored leaves, and the great out doors. :)

I am thankful for music, color (life would be dreary with out it :), fabric, and creativity.

Tara, I liked your "thankful for hugs" I defiantly agree!!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. you inspire me just by your
    feminine dress and extraordinary
sewing abilities. and your writing? lovely and simple.
anne of greene gables, jane eyre, mary loise, and a bit of shakeaspeare are just a few of my favorite books. but goodness, i feel i can ramble about books for an eternity. what are your favorites, Tara? I do believe we share an old-fashioned taste in novels! :)

A Merry Lated Thanksgiving to you and Kathryn!

  6. Moriah - The saying I put under the "Thankful for hugs" was a saying an elderly lady from the retirement home we visit used to say to us nearly every week. It always stuck in my memory. :) Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Sheean - Thanks for the comment! Haha - I could go on an on about books too! My favorites... hmm... that's hard. An Old-Fashioned Girl, Little Dorrit (I love Dickens), Titus: A Comrade of the Cross, and The Scarlet Pimpernel would definitely be near the top of my list! Believe it or not, I have yet to read Jane Eyre, but I should because everyone says it is so good! :) Happy Thanksgiving (a little late) to you too!
